About the event

We have two beautiful chickens that we keep in our backyard. They have a lovely little chicken coop to sleep in and lay their eggs and a nice little garden enclosure for them to run around in.

A little bit about Darby....

Darby is the oldest of our chooks at 10 months old and a real character! She absolutely loves her food! The rate at which she can gobble down the seeds and basically anything else is nothing less than phenomenal!! She's not afrraid of a little bit of push and shove when it comes to feeding time, and if she thinks you have something that she wants (that is food!!) then she's not afraid to give a little nudge to get her own! She loves jumping up on the bin that has the feed in it and will do her best to try and get into the bin when it's opened. Thankfully she's never managed to get in otherwise she'd eat the whole lot!!

She's got a great personality and is a very friendly chook, watch her go crazy, running along the fence line when it nears feeding time.

A little bit about Millie...

Millie is the younger of the two chooks and is very mild mannered, she has a lovely and sweet personality and loves to be hand-fed, and does't mind a gentle stroking on her back. She even sometimes squats down as soon as you enter the garden shed waiting for her patting!! She loves to dig and look for bugs, her favourite bugs are earwigs, but she also loves a bit of lettuce, wheatgrass and sweet corn! I definitely think she has a sweet-tooth, or would that be a sweet-beak!? You can tell the difference between her and Darby as Millie has a very bright white tail and white feathering on her back. She's also a bit bigger than Darby as well, even though she's younger.

Come and take a look, especially when it nears feeding time in the early afternoon around 3pm. Darby tends to get very excited about gettng her molasis seeds. She'll run back and forth and also jump up on the bin where the feed is kept! It's very funny to watch!!
